400,000 Hong Kongers Show Anger towards Beijing on July 1st

What began as a few hundred protesters swelled by the end of the day to the tens of thousands.

Anger and resentment can be seen on these faces, while elsewhere in Hong Kong, official celebrations put on a show of revelry.

Sunday marked the 15-year anniversary of the British handover of Hong Kong to Chinese hands. The new Hong Kong Chief executive, Leung Chun-ying, was sworn in on Sunday morning by Chinese leader Hu Jintao.
週日紀念英國交接香港給中國15週年，在週日早上，新的香港特首梁振英宣誓就職，由中國領導人胡錦濤監誓。
Many fear Leung’s close ties with the Chinese Communist Party, and worry that he has Beijing’s best interests in mind rather than Hong Kong’s.
許多人害怕梁振英與中國共產黨的密切關係，擔心他把北京而不是香港的最佳利益放在心裡。
These crowds gave the thumbs down to Leung. In Cantonese, they shouted, “Leung Chun-ying, out of office!”
這些群眾向梁振英嗆聲，用廣東話，他們喊著：「梁振英，滾蛋！」
Others handed out the old flag of British colonial Hong Kong.
其他人拿出英國殖民時代的香港舊旗幟。
Hong Kong enjoys greater freedoms than in Mainland China. But many see a growing presence by the Chinese regime in Hong Kong, and the government's declining regard for the interest of Hong Kong people.
香港享有比中國大陸更大的自由，但是許多人看到中國政權在香港不斷上升的影響力，以及政府對香港人民利益的關懷下滑。
For many, these fears were summed up by images of Hu Jintao at a military parade in Hong Kong on Friday, as thousands of China’s People Liberation Army soldiers, backed by tanks, saluted their leader.
對許多人而言，這些恐懼，總結在胡錦濤在香港的軍事遊行，所呈現出來的形象，數千中國人民解[səˋlut]放軍，在坦克車的後面，向他們的領袖敬禮。
